Chicago Mayor's Mentoring Challenge

 Chicago Flag

"A generation of children needs our city to stand up for them.
For those children, and for our city, let us today answer that call."

Mayor Rahm Emanuel, from his Second Inaugural Speech

Chicago's Call to Action!

Recognizing that everyone has something to give – their time, values, knowledge, a skill – Mayor Emanuel is encouraging residents to step up and ensure all of our youth have the tools and support they need to succeed!

In August, 2015, Mayor Emanuel partnered with MENTOR Illinois to launch a 2-year Mentoring Challenge for 1,000 Chicagoans to serve as mentors for youth in need across our city. Building on the early success of this initiative, the Mayor has doubled the goal to 2,000 new mentors by the fall of 2017!

Mentors can make a difference for our city's youth through sustained, empowering relationships.

Thanks to generous commitments from our corporate partners and individual volunteers,
we are excited to have over 800 new mentors for Chicago’s youth!
